Studio Gaia is a small, independent apartment which forms part of a beautiful ecological house. It is replete with loving details: wooden ceilings, terracotta tiles, stone walls, natural render, lime paints, a small covered patio with a sea view and large patio area in full sun… the studio is flooded with soft amber light on long summer afternoons and is a fantastic place to relax after a walk in the nearby pine woods or a day at the beach.
The Studio and house are about 1km from the small village of San Ambrosio with its pine woods, 5 km from the pueblo blanco Vejer de la Frontera, and a little further from the unspoilt beaches of the Costa de la Luz. Reached on narrow country roads, the last 500m is a graded road with some pot holes; there is no problem for most vehicles, but we don’t recommend it to drivers of low slung sports cars!
The Studio is completely independent of mains: electricity is supplied by solar panels, and water is from a well. Outside there are 6000 square metres of grounds, some planted as vegetable and flower gardens, some with fruit trees, and a large part is reforested with carob, wild olive, acacia etc. The Studio shares an entrance patio with Casa Gaia, but has a private covered patio with sea views. Patio furniture and portable barbecue are provided.
The studio consists in:
- a large room with open plan kitchen and living room area (terracotta tiles, wooden ceiling, natural render, wood burning stove, double sofa bed, shelving for storage of clothes, dining table and chairs, built in kitchen with small fridge, gas hob, sink, french windows onto covered patio with sea views.)
- off this room is the bathroom (toilet, shower, wash basin)
- up some steep wooden steps there is a sleeping platform with a double bed
The Studio sleeps 2/4 people. We supply sheets and towels (but not beach towels) for our guests. There are not usually many mosquitoes in our area, but we provide mosquito nets for a comfortable night’s sleep.
Studio Gaia has full electrical installation throughout, but plugs are of the standard European 2-pin variety, so please bring adapters if you want to use your laptop or charge your mobile phone. The supply is 240 volts, but is not suitable for appliances like hairdryers and irons that use a lot of electricity to create heat. We supply small speakers for you to plug in your ipod or mp3 player.
We will be on hand to deal with any questions or problems that may arise during your stay, and to water the gardens once a day in the evening.
