A practical and theoretical workshop in the Catalan Pre-Pyrenees
Permaculture is a holistic approach to designing sustainable settlements inspired in the observation of nature. It is based on care for the earth, care for people and the fair distribution of resources… all arising from the recognition of our profound interdependence and connection to Nature.
From organic farming and gardening, to natural building, from resilient communities to new approaches to economics, Permaculture’s systemic approach has something to offer at every scale and in every area of life. In this theoretical and practical workshop we present the principles of Permaculture and its relevance to the design of a sustainable future that includes the development of our relationship with the living world that surrounds us.
We will work in the beautiful wild landscape of Armenteras developing our capacities of observation and interaction with the Earth, learning to listen and respond to the landscape and discovering practical steps we can take to incorporate Permaculture into our everyday life both in the countryside and the city.
Joanna Crowson puts Permaculture principles into practice in Casa Gaia – her home in Southern Spain. She works from her background in Deep Ecology and shamanic practices, as a ‘sacred activist’, seeking genuine transformation on personal, societal and planetary levels, through a renewed connection to the Earth. She has an MSc in Sustainability and a Permaculture Design Certificate, and is co-author of ‘The Key to the Universe. www.casagaia.co.uk
